The crash happened at about 9:00 a.m. on October 24 at the intersection of North 34th Street and East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Preliminary information shows the police vehicle was travelling eastbound on MLK Boulevard, the HART bus was travelling southbound on North 34th Street, and the Charger, driven by an adult man, was stationary in the northbound lanes of North 34th Street when the collision involving all three vehicles occurred, police said, according to Tampa Bay 28 (WFTS).

The force of the impact caused the patrol vehicle to overturn. The officer, a 12-year veteran and the sole occupant of the patrol vehicle, suffered a head laceration and was transported for treatment, police said.

No serious injuries were reported on board the bus. Two adult HART passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation as a precaution, and the Charger driver reported a minor leg injury and was treated and released at the scene, police said.

"Our immediate thoughts are with all those who were involved in this morning's collision," Acting Chief Brett Owen said in the police statement. "We are thankful that initial reports indicate no critical injuries, and we wish everyone a swift recovery." Tampa Police traffic investigators remained on scene to determine what led to the crash, police said.
