A suspect was arrested minutes after deputies responded to a shooting on Horse Stamp Church Road in the Waverly area of Camden County on Saturday afternoon, the Camden County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies were called to the road at about 1:41 p.m. after a report of the shooting, and a suspect was taken into custody less than seven minutes after deputies arrived, according to the sheriff's office.

One person who suffered a gunshot wound was flown to a nearby hospital, the sheriff's office said. The victim's condition was not known as of the sheriff's office's Saturday afternoon update, and officials had not released the suspect's identity at that time.

Authorities said there was no indication of an active threat to residents in the area, while law enforcement activity was expected to remain elevated as investigators processed the scene.
