Rockdale County Public Schools said 22 students and three adults were transported to medical facilities for treatment and evaluation. Superintendent Stephanie Johnson said in a Saturday message that many of those taken for care had already been treated and released.
Georgia State Patrol troopers told WSB-TV that the 74-year-old bus driver lost control while leaving Interstate 20, crossed all lanes of Highway 138 and struck a black Kia Soul in the northbound lanes. Both drivers were taken to hospitals, the station reported.

One person from the bus was airlifted to a trauma centre, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Arthur M. Blank Hospital was placed on standby for a possible mass-casualty event, USA TODAY reported. The bus came to rest on its side against a construction barrier, with damage to its front and a shattered windshield.
Head coach Fredrick Green, who was on the bus, worked to locate team members who had been taken to different hospitals, and school and district staff went to hospitals in Rockdale, Newton and Walton counties, including Grady and Piedmont facilities, to support students, staff and families, the district said.
Authorities have not determined what caused the bus to leave the roadway and overturn, and the crash remains under investigation, officials said. No student is being named in this report.
