Toombs County deputies responded at about 2:19 p.m. on Monday, October 19, to a residence in the 100 block of McNatt Falls Road in Uvalda after a report that three people had been shot, Hazlehurst Now reported. Wallace Truman Edge, 75, and Pamela Cook, 40, died at the scene. Cook's mother, Diane Cook, 55, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm that authorities described as non-life-threatening.

What the sheriff says happened
Sheriff Jordan Kight told WTOC that Grace Edge allegedly entered the home and opened fire, firing five rounds; Wallace Edge and Pamela Cook were struck a total of four times. Diane Cook, who was inside, called 911 during the shooting and told the dispatcher, in WTOC's reporting, that the attacker 'just come in start shooting' and that there had been no argument first.
Kight said investigators believe Grace Edge drove straight from the residence to the sheriff's office, where she was taken into custody. 'We believe she had drove straight from the residence where this happened and drove straight here to the sheriff's office,' Kight told WTOC.
Charges and background, as reported
Grace Edge is charged with two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder and three counts of aggravated assault — seven counts in total — and was reported to be held at the Toombs County Detention Center pending a first court appearance. The Toombs County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Hazlehurst Now reported.
Kight told WTOC the former couple had divorced more than 10 years ago, had continued an intermittent relationship, and had repeatedly contacted police about each other in alleged domestic disputes in which no arrests were made. The sheriff said Wallace Edge had started dating Pamela Cook and that, based on information investigators received, Grace Edge was 'not accepting of the situation.' Authorities have not publicly established a motive in court.
The seven charges against Grace Edge are allegations. She is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court, and the investigation is continuing.
