The GBI identified the former deputy as Amadou Diaw, 33, of LaFayette, Georgia. He is charged with unauthorized disclosure of criminal history record information, computer theft, computer trespass, violation of oath of office, and misdemeanor obstruction, according to investigators.

Investigators allege Diaw illegally accessed and obtained criminal-history information through the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC), the system law-enforcement agencies use for criminal-justice records. They also allege he distributed body-camera footage and photographs linked to ongoing criminal investigations.

Diaw was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 22, and booked into the Walker County Jail, the report said. The Walker County Detention Center daily intake report for Oct. 22 also lists Amadou Diaw, 33, admitted at 12:33, with felony obstruction, violation of oath, computer theft and computer criminal trespass among the charges — matching the GBI account.

Authorities have not released further details about which investigations were involved or who may have received the material allegedly distributed. The charges against Diaw are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
