CHICAGO, Illinois — A group of four burglars crashed a Jeep into an Uptown gas station and stole an ATM early on Tuesday, Chicago police said. Officers responded to a traffic crash just after 3 a.m. in the 5100 block of North Broadway and found a blue Jeep had crashed into the gas station, according to police reporting by the Chicago Sun-Times and ABC7 Chicago.

A witness told officers that three people in a black SUV entered the gas station through the hole made by the Jeep and took the ATM, police said. The burglars put the ATM into the SUV and fled in it together with the driver of the Jeep, officials said. ABC7 reported the incident at about 3:03 a.m. and described it as a crash-and-grab burglary; CBS News Chicago also reported an ATM was taken from a BP gas station on the North Side in the same early-Tuesday incident.

No injuries were reported in the Sun-Times account, and police announced no arrests. Area 3 detectives are investigating, police said. Police have not said in these reports how much money, if any, was in the machine, and have not linked this incident to other ATM thefts.
