URBANA, Ill. — An 18-year-old man is under arrest after Urbana police said shots were fired at a house on Saturday evening, leaving the home with multiple bullet holes but no one injured, WCIA reported, citing an Urbana Police Department news release.
The shots-fired incident happened Saturday evening in the area of Linview Avenue and Sunset Drive. Lieutenant David Roesch said in the news release that officers responded to a report of gunshots and arrived to find a home with multiple bullet holes, according to WCIA.

“As officers responded to the area, they located 18-year-old Christopher Tate nearby,” Roesch said. Police allege Tate attempted to flee from officers; officers said they quickly apprehended him and found him in possession of two firearms. During the preliminary investigation, officers said they determined Tate had associations with the residence struck by gunfire. The allegations have not been proven in court.
Champaign County court records indicate the State's Attorney's Office filed two counts against Tate: aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony, and possessing a firearm without a FOID card, a Class 3 felony, WCIA reported. Tate appeared in court on Monday morning and entered a plea of not guilty.
The State's Attorney's Office has filed a petition to detain Tate ahead of trial, which Judge Brett Olmstead will rule on Wednesday morning, according to the court records reported by WCIA.
Roesch asked anyone living in the area to review surveillance or doorbell camera footage and contact the Urbana Police Department at 217-384-2320 if they observe suspicious activity, or call Champaign County Crime Stoppers at 217-373-8477 to remain anonymous.
