During the pursuit, the vehicle stopped near the Cameron Ferry, where the female passenger attempted to exit, state police said. A pursuing deputy stopped his patrol unit and got out as the male subject actively prevented the woman from escaping the vehicle. The suspect vehicle then moved toward the deputy, resulting in the deputy discharging his firearm and striking the man, according to the release.
