BALTIMORE, Maryland — A 24-year-old man was killed late Friday night on Harford Road in east Baltimore when he was struck by a car that police said had been carjacked earlier in the day, The Baltimore Banner reported, citing Baltimore Police.

Officers responded to the 2600 block of Harford Road around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, October 23, and called medics, who pronounced the victim dead at the scene, police said. A preliminary investigation identified the vehicle that struck him as a 2009 Toyota Corolla that had been carjacked earlier in the day.

The occupants of the Corolla fled the scene on foot, but the car itself remained at the scene, the Banner said. HeyDay News, reporting the police account carried by WBFF, also said officers found the man unresponsive in the 2600 block around 10:50 p.m. and that the car's occupants fled after the collision.

Police had not publicly identified the driver, and the available reporting did not establish whether the occupants at the time of the collision were the same people who took the car in the carjacking. The victim's name had not been released in the reports.

The Banner said the crash was the third fatal crash in Baltimore in a three-day span and the second on Harford Road this week: on Wednesday night a dirt bike driver died after striking a Toyota Sienna turning onto Louise Road, and early Thursday officers found a driver dead inside a burning vehicle on East Northern Parkway.
