The FBI's Detroit Field Office and its law-enforcement partners have announced the Michigan results of Operation Summer Heat 2.0, reporting 177 arrests, the recovery of 66 weapons, the seizure of more than 77 kilograms of illegal drugs and the location of 21 children, according to the FBI announcement reported on October 19-20, 2026.

The initiative ran from June 1 through September 20 and targeted violent crime, fugitives and criminal organisations. All 56 FBI field offices took part alongside federal, state, local and international partners. In Michigan, the Detroit field office said the work combined investigative resources to pursue violent offenders, execute outstanding warrants, disrupt criminal networks and identify vulnerable children. The announcement did not identify the children, describe their individual circumstances, or give a breakdown of the offences behind the 177 arrests.

Jennifer Runyan, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Detroit Field Office, credited cooperation among agencies across Michigan for the arrests, seizures and efforts to locate children, and said the bureau would continue its public-safety work in the state. A local example of the partnership came in Warren, where the Warren Police Department and the FBI said their joint Summer Heat work seized cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, fentanyl and ecstasy, according to a Warren police press release.

Nationwide, the FBI has said Operation Summer Heat 2.0 produced nearly 9,000 arrests and located or identified about 1,410 child victims across the country. The Michigan figures are the Detroit field office's share of that wider operation. Arrests are allegations until cases are decided in court.
