STERLING HEIGHTS, Michigan — Shonda Natasha Davis, 45, of Roseville, was arraigned on October 16 in the 41A District Court in Sterling Heights on one count each of identity theft, a five-year felony, and unauthorized practice of a health profession, a four-year felony, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced on October 23.

It is alleged that Davis, who is not a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), used the LPN licence number of another woman to apply for employment and perform work as an LPN, the attorney general's office said. She obtained employment at Maxim Healthcare in Flint in August 2024 and served there in an LPN role until April 2025, according to the announcement.

In that time, it is alleged, Davis provided health services to Medicaid beneficiary patients despite holding no licence to do so. Parents of patients and supervising employees reported Davis's provision of services as clearly deficient, the attorney general's office said. The Ann Arbor Times, reporting the same announcement, said a probable-cause conference was scheduled for October 26 and a preliminary examination for November 2.

"This case alleges a shocking abuse of public records, and the trust and care of patients," Nessel said. "Medicaid patients, and patients everywhere, should be able to trust their healthcare providers are qualified and vetted." The attorney general's Health Care Fraud Division is leading the prosecution. The charges are allegations; Davis has not been convicted, and the reporting did not include a response from her.
