Flamingo Road in Las Vegas recorded 29 pedestrian deaths between January 2021 and June 2026, making it Clark County's deadliest road for people crossing on foot during that period, according to Erin Breen, director of PedSafe Vegas at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Transportation Research Center. KSNV News 3 Las Vegas first reported Breen's figures on October 21, and Focal News reported the same count and period on October 22.

The deadliest stretch is between Paradise Road and University Center Drive, Breen said. She described Flamingo as a busy transit corridor where people getting off buses, or hurrying to catch one, may cross outside a crosswalk while vehicles often travel at around 50 mph — a speed a person on foot cannot outrun.

The figures were reported as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other Nevada law enforcement agencies take part in a statewide Joining Forces campaign focused on pedestrian safety, which runs through October 31. Breen said the effort is meant to reinforce traffic laws, change driver behaviour and hold drivers accountable.

Breen also warned that pedestrian deaths traditionally rise at this time of year as daylight hours shrink, leaving more travel in darkness. She cautioned against relying only on pedestrians to make safe choices, noting that when marked crossings sit far from where people need to go, a direct but unsafe route can look more tempting. Metro Police reported 47 pedestrian deaths in their jurisdiction so far this year, slightly below the 51 at the same point last year, and identified pedestrian error as the leading contributing factor — while Breen's comments point to driver behaviour and convenient crossings as part of the fix as well.
