One man is dead and two others are wounded after a shooting in North Las Vegas, Nevada, in the first minutes of Monday, November 2, 2026. North Las Vegas police were called at about 12:01 a.m. to a reported shooting in the 1800 block of West McDonald Avenue, in a residential area near Carey Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to police statements reported by local stations.

Officers found two men with gunshot wounds near West Street and McDonald Avenue. A third man, also shot, was found nearby at Juanita Circle and Carey Avenue, across Carey from the first scene — which is why investigators were working two connected locations a short distance apart in the same neighbourhood.

All three men were taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for treatment. One man died at the hospital. Police described the second man's injuries as life-threatening — a later report put him in critical condition — and said the third man was in stable condition.

No suspect and no motive released
Detectives and crime scene investigators took over the case, police said. As of the reports published on Monday, no suspect information had been released, no arrests had been announced and police had not given any possible motive for the shooting. It is not yet known whether the three men were shot in one incident that spilled across the two locations, or how they are connected to each other.

The man who died has not been publicly named. The Clark County Coroner's Office will release his identity, along with the official cause and manner of death, once his family has been notified — the standard next step in a Nevada homicide investigation, and the point at which the case formally becomes a coroner-confirmed homicide.

Why the victims went to UMC, and where this happened
North Las Vegas is a separate city in Clark County, immediately north of Las Vegas — not a neighbourhood of Las Vegas itself. It is Nevada's fourth most populous city, with 262,527 residents counted in the 2020 census and an estimated population of about 296,653 in 2025. West McDonald Avenue, where the shooting was reported, is a residential street west of Martin Luther King Boulevard and south of Carey Avenue.

The three victims were taken across the city line to University Medical Center (UMC) on West Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas because UMC runs Nevada's only Level I trauma centre — the highest level of emergency care for gunshot wounds and other life-threatening injuries, serving patients from across southern Nevada and parts of neighbouring states.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111, or to contact Crime Stoppers of Nevada anonymously at 702-385-5555.
What happens next
The investigation is continuing, and the open questions are the ones police listed implicitly on Monday: who fired the shots, why, and whether the two wounded men's conditions change. The coroner's identification of the man who died, any surveillance video from the residential blocks around McDonald Avenue, Carey Avenue and Juanita Circle, and tips from neighbours are the most likely sources of the next public update. Police activity continued around Carey Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard while detectives worked, and drivers in the area were advised to expect a police presence.

For the Punjabi truckers and diaspora families who pass through and live in the Las Vegas valley — Interstate 15, the main freight route through North Las Vegas, runs a few minutes east of the scene — this is a local police investigation, not a highway incident: I-15 was not involved and no road closures from this shooting were reported. Awaaz Punjab will update this story when police name a suspect, announce an arrest, or the coroner releases the dead man's identity.
