NEW YORK — An NYPD officer shot a Queens woman inside a home on 149th Street in Jamaica on Friday night, October 23, 2026, after officers responded to a reported family stabbing, police and the woman's family said in reporting published on Saturday, October 24, by the New York Post and CBS News New York.

The woman, Shanequa Donovan, 38, called 911 after her brother, Rashaun Donovan, 48, allegedly began attacking family members inside the home, according to her boyfriend, Edward Grant, 48, who spoke on Saturday. Grant said Shanequa had taken the knife from her brother and was still holding it while she and Grant tried to restrain him in a cramped attic bedroom. When officers arrived at about 9:45 p.m., she had leaned out of a window and dropped her keys so they could enter, police and relatives said.

NYPD Chief of Patrol Phil Rivera said officers ordered all three people to raise their hands and the two men complied. The woman pointed with her left hand but did not raise her right hand, and continued moving toward the officers while holding the knife, Rivera said. She was within several feet of the officers when an officer discharged his firearm, striking her, he said, and a second officer fired a Taser. Officials said she was struck by three bullets, was given emergency treatment by officers, and was in stable condition in hospital. Rivera said police had no reason to believe she was the person responsible for the stabbings.

Three men with stab wounds were in stable condition — one was taken to Jamaica Hospital and two to North Shore University Hospital, police said. Grant said he was stabbed, and Karon Davis, 23, a nephew of the alleged attacker, said he was stabbed in the shoulder. Two knives were recovered at the scene. Body-camera footage captured the shooting and is under review by the NYPD's Force Investigation Division, officials said. No arrest in the stabbing was announced in the reports, and the allegations against the brother are allegations that have not been proven in court.
