A 19-year-old man is facing three felony charges after police alleged that he secretly recorded a sexual encounter with a University of North Carolina at Charlotte student and shared the video with a fraternity group chat without her consent. Alexander Michael Evanoff was arrested on Monday, October 19, and charged with two felony counts of secret peeping and one felony count of disclosing private images, according to police and court records reported by Fox News Digital and Law Commentary.

Investigators allege the recording was made on September 19 inside the woman's dormitory room during a consensual encounter, and that Evanoff used his phone to record it and sent the footage later that day to a Snapchat group of 32 members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. According to a law-enforcement affidavit summarized in the reporting, he allegedly asked the woman to turn away, which made her suspect recording had begun, and two witnesses later viewed footage in which she could be identified. The woman is not being named.

What police say he told detectives
When the woman confronted Evanoff and asked whether sending the video to the fraternity group made him 'appear cool,' he allegedly answered affirmatively and apologized, according to the affidavit. In a later police interview, he allegedly acknowledged recording and distributing the footage without asking for or obtaining her permission, Fox News Digital reported. The charges are allegations; Evanoff is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Evanoff was released on Tuesday on $10,000 bond, according to court and jail records cited in the reporting. A university spokesperson told WSOC that Evanoff is not currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte, calling the alleged conduct, if true, 'reprehensible' and not tolerated from members of the campus community.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon said its North Carolina Beta chapter rescinded Evanoff's invitation to join in September after learning of the allegations, and that he was never initiated into the fraternity. 'Sigma Alpha Epsilon condemns any and all forms of sexual misconduct,' fraternity spokesperson Saylor Schwab told Fox News Digital. No court date was given in the initial reporting.
