The sheriff's office said it was notified on Saturday, October 17, of a potential threat involving the district and began an investigation. During that investigation, detectives received additional information that raised further concerns about school safety, and deputies worked with school officials on steps to protect students and staff.

On Sunday, October 18, both juveniles were located and taken into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said. Detectives also recovered evidence connected to the investigation. The office did not release the juveniles' names or ages, and this report does not identify them.

Charges filed

According to the sheriff's office, the charges include one count of making a terroristic threat, a third-degree felony; one count of complicity to making a terroristic threat, a third-degree felony; one count of grand theft of a firearm, a third-degree felony; one count of receiving stolen property, a third-degree felony; one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; and one count of inducing panic, a fourth-degree felony. The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.

Both juveniles are being held at the Ross County Juvenile Detention Center.
