LOUDON COUNTY, Tennessee — Part of Interstate 75 southbound was shut down in Loudon County on Monday night after a multi-vehicle wreck involving two semi-trucks caused a diesel spill, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office said.

The wreck happened around 9 p.m. on I-75 southbound near mile marker 83, just south of the I-75 and I-40 split. According to the sheriff's office, a northbound semi-truck lost a steer tire, crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes, where it struck another semi. A passenger vehicle also struck debris in the roadway.

Diesel fuel then leaked onto the roadway. Loudon County Emergency Management was addressing the spill and coordinating cleanup efforts on Monday night, officials said. Initial local coverage reported no injuries in the wreck.

The sheriff's office said the southbound closures were expected to last until at least midnight, with congestion also expected on I-75 northbound and on both eastbound and westbound I-40 near the split — a key corridor for long-haul truckers crossing East Tennessee. The sheriff's office urged drivers to use caution in the area and to seek an alternate route where possible. The incident was also logged as a developing event record on Monday night.
