Anthony Green, 25, had been convicted of first-degree murder on September 24, 2025, but was erroneously released from Shelby County Jail the same day, the Marshals said. Acting on a tip that he was hiding at a relative's apartment, task force members breached the front door on October 21 after someone was seen trying to jump from a rear bedroom window; Green surrendered and was taken to the Shelby County Criminal Justice Center without further incident.
The other arrests
Walter Caffey, 19, was arrested on a first-degree murder charge in the April 16, 2024, shooting death of Donald Jennings at a gas station on Jackson Avenue; the Marshals said Caffey is alleged to be one of three people who got into a verbal altercation with Jennings, and a warrant was issued on October 9. He was arrested without incident at a residence on Airview Road. The charge is an allegation and Caffey is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
