Houston TranStar said the incident was verified at about 5:02 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, with one vehicle listed as involved. The closure also affected both the left and right shoulders, the report said. At least one person was killed in the collision, while police and emergency crews remained at the scene investigating and clearing debris.
The crash led to extensive northbound backups in the Conroe area. Drivers were advised to leave I-45 before reaching Gladstell Street and use alternative routes where possible, and motorists unable to divert were told to expect significant delays while the investigation and recovery operation continued.
A separate traffic report for the same Conroe stretch of I-45 said a major accident had also shut down lanes 1, 2 and 3 on northbound I-45 between mile markers 85 and 86, from south of FM-2854 to north of Loop 336 — just north of Gladstell Street — in an incident reported at about 7:04 a.m., restricting northbound flow to a single lane. Transportation officials classified that incident's severity at 4 out of 5, and clearance was estimated to continue until about 11:00 a.m., Truck Accident Hub reported, citing corridor data.

The reports did not release the name of the person killed or say what caused the Gladstell Street crash. I-45 between Houston and Dallas is one of Texas's busiest freight corridors, and a full northbound closure on a Sunday morning affects both local drivers and long-haul trucks moving through Montgomery County.
