The Texas Department of Transportation says all lanes of Interstate 30 in downtown Dallas will close in both directions from 10 pm Saturday, October 24, to 5 am Monday, October 26, weather permitting. The closed stretch runs between the I-35E and I-45/US 75 interchanges.

TxDOT told the Dallas City Council on October 19 that the full closure is needed to demolish three city-street bridges that cross the interstate, so the new roadway can be built beneath them, according to a council-hearing report.

Signed detours will route drivers onto the SH 366 / Woodall Rodgers Freeway as the alternate east-west connection between I-35E and I-45/US 75. TxDOT warns of significant delays and asks drivers to avoid unnecessary travel in the area.

Longer-term impacts stay in place regardless of the weekend closure: Botham Jean/Lamar Boulevard stays closed and detoured at I-30 through late 2027, Griffin Boulevard is narrowed to one lane each way through early 2028, and Cesar Chavez Boulevard remains closed through late 2028, with Cadiz Street closed for a rebuild on a new alignment.
Drivers heading through the heart of Dallas on Sunday should plan extra time or use the posted detours, as the closure hits one of the busiest east-west corridors in North Texas.
