FOX 4's SKY 4 helicopter images showed officers attempting to speak with the man, who was standing on the side of the bridge, the report said. SWAT officers and ambulances were also at the scene, and traffic backed up for miles in all directions on I-20 and I-45 while the interchange remained closed.
After a standoff lasting more than five hours, the man jumped from the overpass and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reporting by NBC 5 and the Dallas Morning News summarised by local outlets. Authorities had not publicly released the man's identity, age or motive.
