A crash during an ICE pursuit in northwest Harris County early on Thursday, October 22, left one person hospitalized and is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office, KHOU 11 reported. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said deputies responded to the 12400 block of Old Foltin Road, one person was transported to a hospital, and the sheriff's office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating.

According to the sheriff's office account summarized in local reporting, ICE agents in unmarked vehicles tried to stop a pickup at about 6:40 a.m. driven by a man the sheriff's office said had an active removal order. Investigators said the driver fled, setting up a short pursuit on Old Foltin Road.

Near Old Foltin and Essie, the pickup failed to navigate an S-curve, left the roadway and entered a ditch, and as it came back out it made contact with one of the ICE vehicles, leaving the pickup with a broken taillight, investigators said. After the vehicles stopped, the driver got out and tried to run but was quickly taken into custody.

Hospitalized in stable condition; no charges announced

The driver later complained of pain, including chest pains, and was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to the sheriff's office account. By about 10 a.m. the scene had been cleared; authorities said the crash appeared minor and both vehicles were driveable, while the sheriff's office and the Harris County District Attorney's Office continued reviewing the incident. No charges had been announced at that point.

The driver has not been publicly named in the reporting so far. This was a separate incident from the October 10 Houston enforcement case, in which a different man was struck by an ICE vehicle — that case is being investigated separately by Harris County prosecutors.
