Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Bureau say that, preliminarily, Olmer Danilo Perez Villegas was involved in a verbal argument outside an apartment with a victim who was known to him. During the argument he allegedly fired multiple rounds, striking that victim, and a second man sitting inside a vehicle nearby was also struck. Police say Villegas fled before officers arrived.
Surrender and charges
On October 27, Villegas turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and is being held without bond, police said. FFXnow, reporting the same police account, said officers had shared by Monday night that a suspect had been identified and was known to one of the victims.
Police described the incident as a domestic-related shooting but did not specify the exact nature of the relationship between Villegas and the victim he knew. Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau's Victim Services Division have been assigned to the victims. The charges are allegations and Villegas has not been convicted.
