SEATTLE, Washington — A man charged with murdering a Seattle gas station manager was arrested in Chicago on Tuesday evening, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) said in an update published at 5:35 p.m. Pacific time on Oct. 20. "This evening, homicide suspect Michael O'Neal Fleming was arrest[ed] in Chicago, Illinois, by United States Marshals Service without incident," the department said.

King County prosecutors have charged Michael Anthony Oneal Fleming, 33, with first-degree murder, alleging a premeditated killing, according to court documents reported by the Seattle Focal. Prosecutors allege Fleming shot Graeme Dobbeck on Oct. 13 at the 76 station at 351 Broad Street, near Belltown and Seattle Center. The allegations have not been proven in court.

Seattle police were called to the station at 5:52 a.m. on Oct. 13 for a reported shooting and found Dobbeck, the store's manager for more than two years, unresponsive behind the counter with gunshot wounds, SPD said. Seattle Fire Department medics pronounced him dead at the scene. A preliminary medical examiner's finding cited multiple gunshot wounds, according to the court reporting.

A probable-cause statement says security video showed a person enter the store, bring a drink to the counter and fire at least four shots at close range before leaving, the Seattle Focal reported. Investigators said they found no evidence of a robbery or of a prior conflict between the two men. Police identified Fleming from the video, his appearance and gait, and identifications by the store owner and another employee; court records say Fleming had worked at the station and resigned weeks before the shooting.

Earlier on Tuesday, Seattle detectives had publicly sought help locating Fleming, saying he was believed to be armed and dangerous. With the arrest in Chicago, SPD said its homicide unit detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
