A go-around is a standard aviation procedure in which a pilot discontinues an approach and takes the aircraft back into the air before attempting another landing. Although the aircraft landed safely, the tail contact was identified only during the post-flight inspection. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 has been parked at Kolkata airport for a detailed technical inspection, according to sources cited in the reports. The total number of passengers on board the flight has not been ascertained.

The relevant authorities have been informed and an investigation into the incident is underway. The aircraft will remain parked while the technical inspection is completed, the reports said.
