Police sources said the driver and a passenger in the Thar were allegedly returning after partying at a hotel on Park Street and were suspected to have been in an intoxicated state at the time of the accident. That allegation has not been established: police are examining whether alcohol consumption played a role in the driver losing control, and are also looking into the speed at which the Thar was being driven. The exact circumstances leading to the collision are yet to be established, and further details about the condition of the injured are awaited.
