An STF team intercepted a vehicle on National Highway 12 near Madhughat in Kaliachak and recovered 2.688 kg of morphine, estimated to be worth around Rs 30 lakh. Four alleged key operatives, including the alleged main contractor Sahibar Ali, were arrested. All four are residents of Malda, and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Kaliachak police station.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari congratulated the STF on Sunday for dismantling the organised narcotics racket, saying a special case has been registered to uproot the entire network as part of the government's campaign against drug syndicates.
