Nadia: Elderly Man Arrested Under POCSO Act Over Alleged Molestation During Durga Puja

An elderly man has been arrested in West Bengal's Nadia district for allegedly molesting a seven-year-old girl during Durga Puja, and has been held under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, reports said on Thursday. The allegation is yet to be tested in court.

An elderly man has been arrested in West Bengal's Nadia district for allegedly molesting a seven-year-old girl during Durga Puja, according to reports published on Thursday. He has been held under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, India's law for sexual offences against children.

The reports available at the time of publication did not name the arrested man and gave no further details of the alleged incident. Awaaz Punjab is not naming or identifying the child in any way, as the law requires in cases involving a minor.
