Siliguri (West Bengal), Oct 28: A private school teacher was seriously injured on Wednesday morning after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times while out for a morning walk in Siliguri, West Bengal, Daily Kiran reported. The victim was identified in the reporting as Shiuli Dutta. According to police reports cited by Daily Kiran, she was pursued by Sajol Das, described as her former boyfriend, and suffered injuries to her face and neck in the alleged attack.

Witnesses said the teacher fled into a nearby house to escape, but the accused followed her inside and continued the assault. Local residents who tried to intervene were threatened, witnesses said, and the accused then harmed himself before police arrived.

Bhaktinagar police reached the spot and rescued both the injured teacher and the accused, Daily Kiran reported. They were taken to Siliguri District Hospital, where the accused's condition deteriorated and he was transferred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Doctors treating the teacher for multiple injuries, including to her neck, were reported to have said her condition was stable.

The teacher's brother, Kalyan Saha, alleged — an allegation, not an established finding — that Das had been harassing his sister for some time and that complaints had earlier been lodged with the police. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the allegations against the accused remain to be tested.
