According to the police department's preliminary investigation, the crash happened at approximately 4:33 p.m. on New Brooklyn Road (County Route 536), closest to the intersection of Radix Road in the Williamstown section of Monroe Township, Gloucester County. A 62-year-old Williamstown man was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox and attempted to make a left turn out of a driveway on New Brooklyn Road to travel westbound. At the same time, the 28-year-old Winslow man was riding a 2006 Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle eastbound on the same road. Police said the Chevrolet suddenly encroached into the motorcyclist's lane of travel, the motorcycle impacted the front of the Chevrolet, and the rider was ejected.

What police say happened — and what is still unknown

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Jefferson Hospital–Washington Township for minor injuries, police said. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not released the name of the rider or of the SUV driver, and no charges have been announced. The department stressed that its findings so far are a preliminary investigation: a reconstruction of the crash, witness accounts and any decision on charges are still to come.

The collision remains under investigation by Officer Frank Paulson of the Monroe Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information related to the investigation is asked to contact Officer Paulson at (856) 728-9800, extension 239.

Officers were assisted at the scene by Gloucester County EMS, Inspira Paramedics, Cooper Paramedics, the Williamstown Fire Company and the Gloucester County Medical Examiner's Office, according to the police account reported by 973 ESPN — a roll call that reflects how seriously a fatal crash on a county road is treated in South Jersey, with the road closed around the investigation while the Traffic Safety Unit worked.

A familiar and deadly pattern: the vehicle that turns across a rider

Road-safety researchers have long identified the left-turning or driveway-exiting vehicle as one of the deadliest threats a motorcyclist faces: a driver looks down the road, judges a gap, and turns across the path of an oncoming motorcycle that is far harder to judge for speed and distance than a car. Police have not said what the SUV driver saw or did not see on Wednesday, and nothing in the preliminary account assigns final fault — that is what the Traffic Safety Unit's investigation is for. What is already fixed is the setting: a two-lane county road in the late-afternoon light of early November, days after the clocks went back, when the evening commute in South Jersey now begins in fading daylight.

New Brooklyn Road is a working local corridor, not a highway: it carries Williamstown and Sicklerville-area residents between their homes, schools, shops and the routes toward Camden and Philadelphia, and it is shared every day by cars, delivery vans, school traffic and motorcycles. Gloucester County's Punjabi and wider South Asian families — settled across Monroe and Winslow townships and neighbouring Sicklerville — drive this same corridor daily, and a fatal crash at a driveway on an ordinary Wednesday afternoon is the kind of local news that travels through the community within hours.

Witnesses wanted

Monroe Township Police are asking anyone who saw the November 4 crash on New Brooklyn Road near Radix Road, or who has information about it, to call Officer Frank Paulson of the Traffic Safety Unit at (856) 728-9800, extension 239.

What happens next: the Traffic Safety Unit will complete its investigation, including the crash reconstruction, and the Monroe Township Police Department will then decide whether any charges follow against the SUV driver. Police are also expected to release the motorcyclist's name once his family has been fully notified — the obituary notices circulating online on Thursday are not an official identification, and Awaaz Punjab is following the police department's own releases. We will update this story when the department issues its next statement.
