Israeli attacks have killed at least four Palestinians, including a child, in central and southern Gaza on Thursday (November 5), medical sources told Al Jazeera, as Israeli forces kept up near-daily strikes in the enclave despite the ceasefire. Qatar News Agency, in a separate dispatch from Gaza the same afternoon, likewise reported that 'the number of Palestinians killed since dawn today has risen to four, in airstrikes and shelling carried out by the occupation army on several areas of the Strip'. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on Thursday's incidents in the reports reviewed.

The first of Thursday's deaths — a man killed at dawn when a drone struck a displacement tent west of az-Zawayda — was reported by this site earlier in the day; three further deaths followed in Bureij, Khan Younis and a second drone strike. Medical sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah said Abdul Rahim Walid Matar, 27, was killed at dawn on Thursday when an Israeli drone fired two missiles at a tent sheltering displaced people west of az-Zawayda, Al Jazeera reported. Nasser Medical Complex said a woman was killed and two people were wounded by Israeli fire outside areas under Israeli military control in Khan Younis. A source at al-Awda Hospital said a child was killed by Israeli fire in Bureij refugee camp; reporting from Deir el-Balah, Al Jazeera's Ashraf Amra said Israeli forces opened direct fire on homes and tents in eastern Bureij, killing the child on the spot. Another drone strike at Az-Zawaya killed another person, medical sources told Al Jazeera, bringing the day's death toll to four.

Wounded in Deir el-Balah and Gaza City as shelling spans the Strip

The killing was accompanied by injuries across the Strip. An Israeli drone struck a gathering of residents in the al-Baraka area of Deir el-Balah, wounding several people, one critically. Amra reported that Israeli forces on the edges of the area overlooking al-Mawasi were firing heavily towards the tents of displaced people, and that a man sitting inside his tent was critically wounded and taken into surgery at Nasser. In the north, a source at al-Shifa Hospital told Al Jazeera a Palestinian was wounded when a drone struck an apartment in al-Karama, northwest of Gaza City, while Israeli artillery shelled eastern Gaza City heavily and naval vessels fired towards the coastline. Local sources said Israeli military vehicles fired heavily around the Hosni al-Musaddar Mosque east of Maghazi camp and a drone dropped a bomb nearby, with no injuries reported there, and residents east of Khan Younis reported two powerful explosions as the army blew up homes and civilian facilities inside areas it controls.

4Palestinians killed in Gaza on Thursday, including a child — medical sources via Al Jazeera; QNA gives the same toll since dawn
1,602Palestinians killed since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, according to Gaza's Health Ministry
5,794Palestinians wounded over the same ceasefire period, according to the ministry
74,618Total killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to the ministry figures cited by QNA, with 175,920 wounded

Ground advancing behind the Yellow Line, ministry counts the toll

Amra added that Israeli forces were also pushing forward on the eastern edges of al-Musaddar and Deir el-Balah, bulldozing homes and farmland and absorbing more land behind the so-called 'Yellow Line' — the military deployment line whose westward expansion the UN human rights office has warned is squeezing Palestinians into a shrinking fraction of the enclave. On Wednesday, Gaza's Health Ministry reported three Palestinians had been killed and 21 wounded in the previous 24 hours, one of the three having died of earlier wounds. The ministry says 1,602 Palestinians have been killed and 5,794 wounded since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025, putting the overall toll since October 2023 at 74,618 killed and 175,920 wounded — figures also carried by QNA on Thursday. Gaza's Government Media Office said on Monday that Israel had committed 5,989 ceasefire violations since the truce began, 753 of them in October, among them 346 shootings, 310 bombardments and 64 home demolitions — a count presented here as the media office's claim. What happens next depends on whether the near-daily pattern breaks: Thursday was at least the fourth consecutive day with a reported Gaza death toll, following the ministry's counts earlier in the week, and each new day of strikes further strains the ceasefire under which the US-drafted stabilisation plan for Gaza is meant to take hold.

What is solid

  • At least four Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Thursday, including a child in Bureij camp — reported by Al Jazeera from medical sources and independently matched by QNA's toll of four killed since dawn
  • Gaza's Health Ministry figures: 1,602 killed and 5,794 wounded since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025; 74,618 killed and 175,920 wounded since October 7, 2023 (carried by both Al Jazeera and QNA)
  • A drone strike on a displacement tent west of az-Zawayda killed a man at dawn on Thursday (medical sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital)

What is only claimed

  • The circumstances of each death rest on Palestinian medical and local sources; the Israeli military did not immediately comment on Thursday's incidents in the reports reviewed
  • The Government Media Office's count of 5,989 ceasefire violations is that office's claim, not an independently verified tally
  • Whether the ground advance behind the Yellow Line amounts to a formal expansion of the deployment area is as reported by Al Jazeera's correspondent on the ground
