WELLINGTON — A concussion has ruled New Zealand batter Devon Conway out of the ODI series against India, ESPNcricinfo reported on Friday. Conway and fast bowler Matt Henry missed the series opener in Auckland on Wednesday after colliding during fielding practice on the eve of the match; Conway was taken to the emergency department of an Auckland hospital, where a concussion was confirmed.

While Conway will play no part in the remainder of the series, Henry has been cleared of concussion and will be available for selection for the second ODI in Wellington on Saturday, New Zealand Cricket said. White-ball captain Mitchell Santner said after the opener that the collision "didn't look good" and that Conway had not recovered sufficiently to be cleared for the rest of the series, ANI reported.

Kelly has been withdrawn from the New Zealand A squad, which begins the third match of its unofficial Test series against India A in Lincoln on Saturday, with Auckland batter Dale Phillips taking his place there, ESPNcricinfo reported. The 33-year-old left-hander earned his first national central contract in October and has three half-centuries in his previous four ODIs.

India lead the series 1-0 after winning the first ODI in Auckland by five wickets on Wednesday, when New Zealand were bowled out for 185 and Virat Kohli's 74 anchored the chase. The hosts go into the Wellington match already without batters Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman, ruled out with shoulder and hamstring injuries respectively, India Today and ANI reported.
