State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Wednesday said it has received orders from Adani Power Limited for four projects of 2x800 MW each, worth between Rs 20,000 crore and Rs 28,000 crore in total, The Hindu BusinessLine reported, citing the company's exchange filing.

Each project is valued at Rs 5,000-7,000 crore, excluding GST, BHEL said. The fresh orders involve the supply of equipment — boiler, turbine and generator along with auxiliaries — and agreed services for the projects, the company said in its filing.

Shares jump on the order win

BHEL shares hit a day's high of Rs 425.30, up about 6 per cent, after the four Adani Power orders were disclosed to the exchanges on November 4, EquityPandit reported. The contracts are domestic orders and execution will follow Adani Power's project requirements, EquityPandit reported.

Why the order matters

The win puts the core equipment for all eight 800 MW units — boilers, turbines and generators — with the state-owned engineering major, and adds a material block to its order book. Upstox reported that BHEL's consolidated net profit for the September quarter (Q2 FY27) had earlier more than doubled to Rs 820.94 crore, helped by its power and industry verticals.

BHEL is one of India's leading engineering and manufacturing companies, working across power, transmission, renewables, oil and gas, transportation, defence and aerospace.
