Bhopal: Union Health Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader J.P. Nadda on Wednesday led the party's 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) foot march in Bhopal, accusing the Congress of undermining democratic institutions by questioning the Election Commission and electronic voting machines after electoral defeats, news agency IANS reported.

Nadda was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal. The procession moved from Atal Path near Platinum Plaza through New Market to Roshanpura, and was joined by state ministers, party office-bearers, traders, professionals and thousands of BJP workers, according to the reports.

Chief Minister Yadav announced that the campaign will now be extended to district headquarters across Madhya Pradesh. The Bhopal programme was the third such march in the state, after similar programmes in Indore on October 30 and in Jabalpur earlier this week, IANS reported.

The BJP has launched the campaign as a counter to the Congress's 'Vote Chori' (vote theft) allegations, its protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and its objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Addressing the gathering, Nadda accused the opposition of displaying an irresponsible attitude and engineering distrust in institutions, news agency ANI reported.

Yadav, addressing the public meeting at Atal Path before the march, accused the Congress of weaponising constitutional institutions for narrow political gains. Dainik Jagran reported that Nadda also described Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's politics as 'hit and run' and criticised the opposition party's remarks on the judiciary and the Election Commission.
