Madurai: Musthafa, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA representing the Madurai Central constituency, on Tuesday alleged that attempts were being made to lure TVK legislators through horse-trading, claiming he personally received a phone call offering him Rs 15 crore in exchange for support during a possible no-confidence motion, news agency ANI reported.

"I personally received a phone call offering me Rs 15 crore to support a no-confidence motion whenever it is moved. I have informed the party leadership about this," Musthafa told reporters at Madurai Airport after arriving from Chennai.

The MLA alleged that AIADMK functionaries from the Madurai region have been contacting him and attempting to lure TVK legislators, and claimed that both the AIADMK and the DMK are involved in these attempts. "Even if they offer Rs 100 crore, TVK MLAs will not switch sides," he said, maintaining that the party's unity remains uncompromised.

An allegation, not an established finding

Musthafa linked the alleged approaches to the registration of a case against Senthil Balaji, hit out at AIADMK leader R.B. Udhayakumar over his recent remarks, dismissing them as political posturing, and said the identities of those behind the attempts would come to light within a day or two. The reports of his remarks carried no response from the AIADMK or the DMK, and the allegation has not been independently established.

Speaking at the airport, Musthafa also said Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has introduced several welfare schemes for the people of Tamil Nadu during the government's first six months in office, and that the scheme for women was being launched across several districts of the state on Wednesday. Awaaz Punjab will update this story if the AIADMK or the DMK responds.
