The victims: one man dead, two women stable

The 27-year-old man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, 6abc Action News reported, citing authorities. His name had not been made public in the reports published on Wednesday, NBC10 said.

The two other people shot were a 31-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman. Both were listed in stable condition, according to 6abc and NBC10.

Evidence markers across Jessup Street

NBC10 said its news helicopter was over the area at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday and observed evidence markers placed across the middle of the street as officers continued to investigate. The block remained an active police scene late into the night.

No arrest, no motive — and a police appeal for tips

As of NBC10's report, Wilmington police had not announced any arrests and had not identified a motive for the shooting. Investigators have also not publicly said what led up to the gunfire or whether the three victims were together.

Police ask for information

Anyone with information about the Jessup Street shooting can contact Detective Brendan Shea at 302-576-3649, or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or delawarecrimestoppers.com, according to the reports.

Background: the same corner saw a fatal police shooting in June

The location has drawn attention before. According to 6abc, it is the same intersection area where Wilmington police shot and killed 19-year-old Kadir Skinner in June. Tuesday night's shooting brings a second fatal shooting to the same Jessup Street corner within a few months, a fact neighbours and local outlets noted as police worked the new scene.

What happens next

The investigation is active and ongoing. The next steps publicly expected in the case are the release of the dead man's name, any update on the conditions of the two women in stable condition, and word from Wilmington police on a suspect or motive. Until then, detectives are asking anyone who was near Jessup Street on Tuesday night to come forward.
