The accession took place during the ISA's ninth Assembly in New Delhi, which brings member countries together to discuss cooperation in solar energy and related initiatives. At the same Assembly, India was elected ISA President for a third consecutive term for 2026–2028 — a development Awaaz Punjab has reported separately.

The ISA is a treaty-based alliance of solar-rich countries co-founded by India and France at the Paris climate conference in 2015 and headquartered in Gurugram. It works to mobilise finance and technology so that tropical countries can deploy solar power at scale and at lower cost.

The membership announcement did not include details of a specific solar project, investment commitment or implementation timeline for the Bahamas, Dainik Jagran noted. The Bahamas' accession takes the alliance's membership to 116 countries.
