External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met the Prime Ministers of Australia and the United Kingdom on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026 in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda, on Thursday, with discussions centred on bolstering bilateral collaboration across multiple domains, ANI reported.

Sharing a glimpse of his meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Jaishankar posted on X: “Good to see PM Albanese at CHOGM2026.” The meeting built on the India–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has seen a dense run of recent engagements, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's talks with Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles on the sidelines of the ADMM-Plus meeting in the Philippines last week, ANI noted.

Jaishankar also held a meeting with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, during which the two leaders explored avenues to enhance the commercial partnership under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and exchanged views on the evolving global situation, IANS reported. “Pleased to meet PM Andy Burnham of the United Kingdom on the sidelines of CHOGM2026. Conveyed PM Narendra Modi's warm wishes. Discussed strengthening our economic partnership in the context of CETA, as well as the global landscape,” Jaishankar posted on X.

The Antigua meetings follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi's telephonic conversation with Burnham in July, when both leaders vowed to enhance cooperation across key sectors after Burnham took office, according to ANI.

At the summit itself, Jaishankar also called on Commonwealth member nations to diversify their supply chains and build shorter, more reliable trade networks for greater economic security, speaking at a high-level meeting of government officials and business leaders, Times Now World reported. This year's CHOGM theme is the acceleration of partnerships and investment for a prosperous Commonwealth.

India has used the Antigua summit to pitch its Digital Public Infrastructure model and free trade agreements to Commonwealth partners, a pitch Jaishankar first made at CHOGM earlier this week; Thursday's bilaterals with Canberra and London carried that economic diplomacy into one-on-one meetings with two of India's closest partners.
