Ravinder Singh, a Subedar with the Army Marksmanship Unit, led the Indian scoring with 559-11x. Saurabh Chaudhary shot 551-7x and Amanpreet Singh 549-6x to complete the winning total. China finished second on 1,648-26x and South Korea third on 1,643-26x.

Ravinder doubled his personal medal haul in the same event, taking the individual silver with 559-11x, two points behind gold medallist Anton Aristarkhov of the Authorised Neutral Athletes, who shot 561-9x. The women's 10m air rifle team added a second silver later in the day, giving India one gold and two silver medals on the opening medal day.

The day was not without disappointment: India missed out on LA 2028 Olympic quota places in both the men's and women's 10m air rifle events, according to reports from Doha. The men's 50m pistol is not part of the Olympic programme, so the team gold does not carry a quota.

The championships run in Doha from November 1 to 14 and are the first qualification event of the LA 2028 cycle, with 36 Olympic quota places available across the 12 individual Olympic shooting events.
