Petition seeks enforcement of court-ordered bus-safety steps

On November 5, an open letter and petition addressed to Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan and Transport Minister C. P. John cited the Kakkanad death and asked the government to implement road-safety directions the Kerala High Court had already issued for private buses. The petition notes that in Clemance Thottappilly v. State of Kerala (W.P.(C) No. 15090 of 2020), the High Court, by an order dated September 24, 2026, issued detailed, time-bound directions on private bus safety and road-safety enforcement.
