The first Indian victim

The first Indian fatality from the attack was Mohammed Yusuf Ali, who hailed from Hyderabad. His funeral took place in Riyadh on October 12, according to reports of the embassy's earlier updates.

In an update on October 23, the embassy reported that two injured Indian nationals remained in intensive care, two others were in general hospital wards, and seven had already been discharged.

What happened on October 10

Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation said the October 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport killed 12 people and injured 309 others in its initial toll. Eleven Indian nationals were among the injured.

Saudi authorities attributed the attack to Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The Houthi group has not officially claimed responsibility, and that attribution remains the Saudi authorities' claim.

One report, by Gyanhigyan, said the overall death toll from the attack now stands at 14 following the second Indian national's death.

India's response and what happens next

India had earlier condemned the attack, stating that strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure were unacceptable and calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities, Nation Press reported.

The Newz Express reported that this death takes the total number of Indian citizens killed since the start of the West Asia conflict in February to 24. That figure is that outlet's count across the wider conflict, not a toll for the Riyadh attack alone.

For the large Indian community working in Saudi Arabia and across the Gulf, the embassy said it remains with the bereaved family and will share further assistance through its channels. No further details about the man's identity or the repatriation arrangements had been released in the reports available at the time of writing.
