Ahmedabad, November 3: An email threatening bomb attacks, received by the office of Gujarat's Director General of Police on November 3, triggered security checks at Ahmedabad Central Jail and Rajkot Central Jail and at prisons, government offices and other public locations across the state, according to reports by Divya Bhaskar and Nav Gujarat Samay.

The email reportedly threatened the DGP office in Gandhinagar, a collector's office and a temple, and referred to Ahmedabad's Sabarmati jail. Nav Gujarat Samay reported that it also warned that Rajkot Central Jail, including the facility in the Popatpara area, would be targeted. The message reportedly referred to the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts, carried the slogans 'Pakistan Zindabad' and 'Khalistan Zindabad', and said, 'Do not forget 2008, a big surprise will be given, wait and watch.'

The Gujarat Cyber Crime Cell and State Intelligence teams are examining the email's source, including the IP address from which it was sent, Nav Gujarat Samay reported. The warning has not been described by authorities as a confirmed attack, and investigators are working to establish whether it was intended to create panic or was linked to an organised group. No arrest or identified sender had been reported.

The alert follows bomb-threat emails reported about a week earlier to eight schools in Ahmedabad — including institutions in Satellite, Chandkheda and Ambawadi — which also referred to a concert by singer Diljit Dosanjh scheduled at Narendra Modi Stadium on November 21, Divya Bhaskar reported.
