This will be Sindhu's sixth career appearance in the World Tour Finals and her first since 2021; she had qualified for the 2022 edition but withdrew due to an injury, IANS said. She remains the only Indian to win a BWF World Tour Finals women's singles title, having defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in 2018. The tournament, held during non-Thomas Cup years, invites the top eight players or pairs on the year-end world rankings, and three women's singles spots are still to be decided.

The 2019 world champion's recent Hylo Open title win proved significant in sealing qualification: the Super 500 title added 9,200 points to her tally, taking her two spots up to sixth in the latest BWF World Rankings update, Nation Press reported, matching the IANS account. The Hylo crown was Sindhu's second title on tour this year after the Japan Open Super 750 in July — her first individual crown since December 2024 — and this is the first season since 2022 in which she has won multiple BWF World Tour titles; she now has seven World Tour titles overall, and also reached the French Open final before Hylo, losing to world No. 1 An Se-young.

Days after her Hylo Open title run, Sindhu decided to skip the Korea Open and Japan Masters to rest and get fit for the World Tour Finals, IANS reported. She is likely to be in action next at the Syed Modi International, which begins in Lucknow on November 24, according to Orbit Prime News. Sources: IANS; Nation Press; Orbit Prime News.
