Satna: A murder accused who walked out of jail on bail on Tuesday evening was back in custody within days, after he allegedly took out a celebratory procession through Satna and posted a social media reel that police say was intended to threaten witnesses and complainants in his case. The accused, Mansingh alias Betu Singraul, had spent around 14 months in jail in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old boy. On his release, supporters welcomed him with garlands and took out a procession with a convoy of motorcycles and four-wheelers, and a video of it went viral on social media, ANI reported.

City Superintendent of Police (Satna) Manish Tripathi said a video had come to the attention of the Superintendent of Police in which the accused, after being released on bail, posted a reel on social media with the intent to threaten witnesses and complainants. Taking immediate cognisance, Kolgawan police station SHO Sudeep Soni registered a case, and Mansingh was re-arrested along with his associates, Tripathi said. A separate case is also being registered over the alleged violation of his bail conditions, and the accused and his associates have been sent to jail.

Witness-threat complaint a day before testimony

Local Hindi reporting of the police complaint said an eyewitness in the murder case filed a complaint at Kolgawan police station on November 4, alleging that Mansingh and his associates came to his home a day before his scheduled court testimony on November 5 and threatened him at pistol point. On that complaint, a case was registered under Sections 232, 351(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and four men — Mansingh and three associates — were produced in court and sent to jail, the report said. Police also paraded the arrested men, who were seen holding their ears and apologising, saying they would never take out such a procession again, ANI reported.

The 2025 case

The original case dates to September 4, 2025, when, during a dispute near the FCI godown on Birla Road in the Kolgawan area, a 16-year-old boy who had stepped in to intervene was shot in the chest and died. Mansingh and the other accused were arrested and lodged in jail, where he remained for about 14 months before being granted bail. The allegations against him in both the murder case and the new witness-threat case are yet to be tested in court.
