The newly launched Electric GLC 400 4MATIC is priced at Rs 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and is built on the company's MB.EA-M platform with an 800-volt architecture. The Chakan plant assembles the electric SUV on the same flexible line as its internal combustion engine vehicles, and the carmaker said the model received 1,000 bookings in record time, with an order book already running up to March 2027.

Speaking at the launch, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state government aims to transform Maharashtra from a national automotive hub into a global hub for future mobility, extending beyond vehicle assembly to leadership in electric vehicles, battery technology, power electronics, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, automobile software, design and research and development, IANS reported.
