Nepal and India concluded delegation-level bilateral talks in Kathmandu on Wednesday, November 4, with discussions encompassing the full spectrum of mutual relations, cooperation and shared interests, Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, as reported by Radio Nepal. The meeting was led by Nepal's Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

According to ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri, the discussions focused on preparations for upcoming high-level exchange visits, expanding and strengthening cross-border connectivity across air, rail, road and bridge infrastructure, and promoting and facilitating bilateral trade and energy cooperation.

The concluded talks are the substantive follow-up to Misri's two-day official visit, which Awaaz Punjab previewed earlier this week. Misri arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning at Rai's invitation and was received by officials of Nepal's foreign ministry and India's newly appointed Ambassador to Nepal, Sudhakar Dalela. Officials said the visit is laying the groundwork for Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah's proposed official visit to New Delhi later this month.

Misri also paid separate courtesy calls on Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal, Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle, Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, and Infrastructure Minister Sunil Lamsal, Radio Nepal reported.

Misri is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Thursday morning before returning to New Delhi the same day, completing the two-day visit. It is his second visit to Kathmandu since taking over as India's foreign secretary in July 2024.
