Alleged inflated sports-kit purchases for 32 schools

The case relates to alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of sports equipment, including badminton and cricket kits, for 32 government schools in the Behror Assembly constituency. Investigating agencies allege the equipment was bought at prices significantly higher than the prescribed rates, causing an estimated loss of about Rs 3.72 crore to the state exchequer. The matter dates back to December 12, 2024, when the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a corruption case against Yadav. After its investigation, the ED arrested him on February 3, 2026; he was produced before a special court in Jaipur on February 7 and sent to judicial custody, where he remained until this bail order. These are agency allegations that have not been established as guilt by any court.

Bail after earlier rejections by the High Court and Supreme Court

Wednesday's grant reverses a long run of refusals in the same case. Yadav's first bail application was rejected by the Rajasthan High Court after nearly five months in custody, Bhaskar English reported at the time, and on September 15 the Supreme Court refused to interfere with that denial in the money-laundering case, India Legal reported. His second application has now been accepted, ending several months of judicial custody ahead of Diwali.

What is solid

  • The Rajasthan High Court granted Yadav bail on his second application on November 4 (IANS; Nation Press)
  • The ED arrested him on February 3, 2026 and he was in Jaipur Central Jail in judicial custody since February 7
  • The case began with an ACB corruption case registered on December 12, 2024

What is only claimed

  • The agencies' allegation that sports equipment for 32 Behror schools was bought at inflated prices, causing about Rs 3.72 crore loss — an allegation, not a court finding

The bail order is procedural relief, not an acquittal. The investigation and legal proceedings over the alleged irregularities in the LAD scheme remain ongoing and subject to the judicial process.
